NKJV APPLY THE WORD STUDY BIBLE Thomas Nelson Publisher

Never judge a Bible by its’ cover not even the wonderful graphics found on the NKJV APPLY THE WORD STUDY BIBLE. There are some basic things that need to be examined before purchasing a Study Bible.
Of course the first thing is the translation and then the size of the font. (If the print is to small you will not be able to read it.) The King James, the New King James and the New International Version are three common translations, most people have one of these three.
When purchasing a study Bible it is important to understand the focus of the commentaries and supplementary information. The NKJV APPLY THE WORD STUDY BIBLE is as it presents itself to be according to the title and the pictures and then some.
I am amazed at the amount of information, commentary, words for thought and study found in the NKJV APPLY THE WORD STUDY BIBLE.

I really do not know how to describe this Bible so that you will appreciate its’ content. It is great for: personal study; if you are a Small Group Leader or teacher it is excellent to use to when planing lessons; I believe you can learn from just reading the topical commentaries.

For those who read my reviews you realize by now that I love God’s word and I am a Bible junkie! With the NKJV APPLY THE WORD STUDY BIBLE Thomas Nelson has released my new favorite Bible and set the margin very high for any other Bible, regardless of the translation. I love it and you will too; I recommend this book. xxx Marsha L F Randolph

COMPASS: The Study Bible for Navigating Your LIfe

AVAILABLE FEBRUARY 4, 2014

Yes; another Bible! You will never hear me say there are to many Bibles to choose from however to a novice it really can be mind boggling thus I approached this review with two question: 1) Why should anyone read Compass: The Study Bible for Navigating Your Life? 2) Who should read Thomas Nelson’s newest study Bible?
If the book of Job discusses the journey of one going through a difficult time then the book of Lamentations takes that experience up a notch. How does COMPASS treat this book? It was easy for me to choose to review this book of the Bible since I have just completed studying this book and it is one of the most difficult books for me to read, I love the book of Job.
In reading the introduction to the book of Lamentations I found the commentary agreeable in terms of its’ contextual historical perspective. The acknowledgment of who may have been the books author serves as an excellent bridge to an excellent paragraph as to how the reader can apply the words in this book to his or her life. Footnote: this is the same introductory commentary found in  The Voice Bible .
Compass: The Study Bible for Navigating Your Life is the study compliment to the Voice Bible translation, which I love, at first I thought the Bibles were identical however I was pleased to discover the differences which make this new Bible a great tool for study.365 Days through the Whole bible; Maps as well as an Index to in-Text Maps.
I like the Voice translation of the Bible, which as I mentioned the Compass: The Study Bible for Navigating Your Life is. If you are looking for a Bible to read from Genesis to Revelation for the very first time or because this is something you do every year this is a good choice. Why should you read Compass: The Study Bible for Navigating Your Life because it is a great study tool. Who should read Compass anyone who wants to gain understanding of God’s Word.
There were two things I did not like about my copy of this book, neither of which had to do with content. 1) I have had Bibles printed on similar type paper and discovered it tears easily. 2) Because my vision is no longer 20/20 I would have preferred a bigger font. I suspect the quality of the paper and the size of the font were decisions made in order to cover the cost of production, though understandable it is something that I consider when purchasing Bibles.
I understand how difficult it is for anyone to chose a Bible, particularly the first one. This Bible is well worth the purchase and so I do recommend it only if you intend on reading it.I received a complimentary copy of this book with the understanding that my review would be fair and honest.

MERCY PRAYER by Robert Gelinas

The Mercy Prayer: The One Prayer Jesus Always Answers by Robert Gelinas was not what I expected based on the title. Headlined as “The One Prayer Jesus Answered” I expected to read about how to pray effectively when going through difficult times. What I read was a book on God's mercy throughout scripture.
For a better understanding of God’s mercy reading The Mercy Prayer: The One Prayer Jesus Always Answers would be very helpful. The author walks the reader through a Biblical study of how Father God reveals His love for His children in their times of need.
My hesitancy in really liking this book is the complexity of the concept as the author Robert Gelinas presents it. I have been taught and teach the simplest prayer is: “Help” no need to pray “Lord have mercy” as the author suggest (page 62).  I believe God’s mercy by definition has nothing to do with what we do or do not understand but more with His love and compassion for us, saved or unsaved. Therefore, it is important to understand that He is a merciful God (reading this book will help) however we have no control over whom He shows mercy to.
I will cause all My goodness to pass before you, and I will declare My name, the Eternal One, before you. I will show mercy to whomever I choose to show mercy, and I will demonstrate compassion on whomever I choose to have compassion. Exodus 33:19 The Voice
The basis of The Mercy Prayer: The One Prayer Jesus Always Answers is to teach people how merciful God is, I don’t think we will ever in our humanistic mind be able to fully grasp this subject. It is easy to believe God will forgive our sins it is those individuals who are on the major sin list (ideologically speaking) that cause us to not fully accept the mercy of Father God. As believers all we can do is to trust Him and lean not to our understanding.

I recommend this book to my readers. I would suggest getting an eBook or borrowing a copy. xxx Marsha L Randolph
