JESUS SWAGGER by Jarrid Wilson
JESUS SWAGGER by Jarrid Wilson allows the Believer to evaluate his or her commitment to faith. Forget about the attention getting title, if you don’t know what swagger is the introduction will teach you.
Despite its’ non-traditional title and catchy chapter headings the areas addressed in this book are serious topics. Each chapter in JESUS SWAGGER -Break Free from Poser Christianity (the full title) examines things many non-believers wonder about and Believers may or may not understand. I like the evaluation concepts found within a few chapters: “Eight Differences Between A Believer and A Follower”: “Six Things Jesus Didn’t Die For”; and “Five Ways To Get Closer To God”; they make great group discussion points.
Many followers of Christ do not have that noticeable swag that should be present. They may have bumper stickers, t-shirts, and jewelry that identify them as a Christian; they may even be tithers with regular church attendance but their co-workers do not see any difference between them and the atheist on the job. If people cannot see the God in you through your words and deeds then you lack swag; as the author Jarrid Wilson points out having a Jesus swagger is not optional.
I recommend this book. It is particularly great for young adults.

RISE by Trip Lee
I did not know who Trip Lee was when I chose to review RISE. I listened to his music on YouTube to get to know him better; by the time my review copy arrived in the mail I was a Trip Lee fan but I knew not everyone would be.
It is clear this book is written to young people and for Black men and women in particular. BUT, this book is for all. RISE presents an excellent case for why a person should dedicate their life to Jesus sooner rather than later.
Like his music on the CD of the same title, RISE, Trip Lee introduces faith to the listener / reader in a practical “keeping it real” kind of way. The concept of the book is practical which is why it is so easy to read.
For those who have a very tradition mindset when it comes to faith they will definitely reject RISE the CD which I would classify as edgy and they will not fully appreciate RISE the book. However, for people like me who reject tradition and seek the truth the reality found within the 212 pages of this book makes this book stellar! (Pun intended! Read the book to discover what I am talking about.)
I was telling my daughter about RISE the book and she said she would read it when she got a chance. Then she listened to RISE the CD now she has time to read the book. The book is: RISE Get Up And Live In God’s Great Story read it.
I recommend you buy a copy of this book for yourself not only what your and get the CD.
