NKJV UNAPOLOGETIC STUDY BIBLE - Thomas Nelson publishers

Reviewers bias: I love Bibles and I love the New King James Bible and I have declared the last few Bibles as my “new favorite Bible.”  But this is the BIBLE I NEED!

Thomas Nelson has presented many Bibles with commentaries and references the NKJV UNAPOLOGETIC STUDY BIBLE has become my most relevant Scripture source in addressing today’s issues.

NKJV UNAPOLOGETIC STUDY BIBLE- Confidence For Such A Time As This (the complete title) focuses on eight specific areas of study: Church, Corruption, Economics, Education, Family, Government, Sanctity of Life and Virtue. Within each of these areas of study there are commentaries.

Ecclesiastes 9:9 could lead to a discussion on marriage. In this case there is a commentary on: THE MYTHS OF COHABITATION, found on page 724 of my Hard cover copy. This discussion is  in the area of Family,  and addresses Adultery and Fornication by sharing 4 myths living together.

This Bible is not for the “Sunday Only Christian” using it will push you further away from worldly living into the Kingdom of God. No modern day issue is avoided in this Bible. Sanctity of Life addresses the issues of abortion and infanticide. A biblical perspective of homosexuality and transgenderism are also presentend.

In addition to the areas of study there are also what is refered to as quadrants. These four quadrants: Biblical, Historical, Quotation & Writings and Commentary help put the writings in perspective. For example: Psalm 139:13-16 There is an Article “Embryonic Stem-cells: Fearfully and Wonderfully made. This is under the area of “Sanctity of Life”, it is undeer the subcatagory of “Stem-Cell research, Cloning and Biotechnogolgy. Psalm 139:13-16 has been placed in the QUADRANT- BIBLICAL. With this Bible you will want to take full advantage of the INDEX FOR CANONICAL STUDY, which is what I did to find and present this example.

THIS IS A SERIOUS STUDY BIBLE MEANT FOR THOSE SERIOUS ABOUT KNOWING THE WILL OF GOD. (All caps intentional.) It will challenge your theology. This Bible was published for such a time as this.

NOTE: The NKJV UNAPOLOGETIC STUDY BIBLE  links with a website dedicated to assisting church leaders in their quest for “Spirit-directed, kingdom-building thought and action” discipleship. I have visited the site: www.kairosjournal.org and found it to be worth using. - - - written by Marsha L F Randolph

THE BELIEVERS CODE by O. S. Hawkins

What an unexpected surprise! When I received THE BELIEVER’S CODE- 365 Devotions to Unlock the Blessings in God’s Word, by O. S. Hawkins, I was pleasantly surprised. First I had to chase my daughter to get the book since she opened the mail when it arrived.

FIRST IMPRESSION: The book looks elegant very inviting.

This book invites the reader to go deeper in Scripture. THE BELIEVER’S CODE is a daily devotional but, for me, it goes beyond a quick read in the morning or before you go to bed. This is a mini-Bible study book, I cannot imagine how anyone could read one day and not want to search the Scriptures for more.

The format of each devotional is as follows: Scripture, Comment, Code Word, Prayer. The “Code Word” is what makes this devotional unique. Take for example: June 8 entry. The Scripture is John 14:6 and the Code Word is “THE”. “The” is a very important word within the context of Scripture  because we know that Jesus is “the” way. This format makes the devotional something you will want to meditate on.

I am excited to begin my personal journey in Scripture using this book. Chances are I amy stay on one devotional for longer than the given day but then this is what I do- study the word daily. This is one book my daughters will not be getting.  - -  written by Marsha L F Randolph

CAPITAL GAINES by Chip Gaines

CAPTIAL GAINS- Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff by Chip Gaines is a good book BUT it really is a guy book. His story about the journey to his success in business and family are tales I believe many men can relate to.

As I read the book I kept thinking of all the married men I knew who could have, benefitied from this book years ago. I also developed a new respect for his wife Jo. It is rare that what you see on television reflects reality but apparently that is the beauty of their success- the Gaines family are as you see them.

What is important to understand in this 184 page book is that Chip is a man of faith. Faith in God is the underspoken theme within this book that begins with a desire to improve his working relatioship with his Spanish speaking business associates.

Even though I think this book is for the guys women can glean a lot from the positive influence Joanna had on Chip’s life even before they were married. She is a very intelligent woman and the two of them make a great team.

For me this book was not about the stupid stuff Chip did but how he allowed his mistakes to become lessons in what not to do. We all make mistakes, very few people would right a great book about it.   ---written by Marsha L F Randolph
