The NKJV STUDY BIBLE FOR KIDS published by THOMAS “TOMMY” NELSON is presented specifically for children ages 8-12 (note: I do not particularly care for the word “Kids”.) A New King James Bible translation with study notes, it is unique because of the presentation of color and the commentary which targets young people.
I like the study emphasis that are presented in the “Spotlight” sections that encourage the reader to: Read it, Get it, Live it. There are also text blocks that present: “Epic Ideas” and calls to “Action.” All of the text box / commentaries have a movie theme icon assocated with it even the “In Focus” text blocks, which are short one or two sentence statements.
As far as Bibles go, for young men and women it is good. The commentaries are written so as to not overwhelm the reader with college level terms but not insulting to the mind of a 14 year old, though the target reader is 8-12. The dictionary -concordance in the back of the book has words in it that shed light as to how to pronounce many of the names found in the Bible. Also note worthy, the introduction to each book is brief, to the point and easy to grasp.
This is a good starter Bible and worth purchasing. - - written by Marsha L F Randolph

NIV KIDS VISUAL STUDY BIBLE
It just so happens that I received my copy of NIV KIDS VISUAL STUDY BIBLE as I was getting ready to study my Sabbath School lesson- so I used it. Of course Zondervan published this Bible for children between the ages of 8 to 12 but God’s word is God’s word.
The assumption is that around 8 years of age young people should be able to read God’s word and not an overview as you see with many children’s Bible. The NIV KIDS VISUAL STUDY BIBLE is a graduation of sorts for many young people however the pictures make it fun and the explanations / commentaries were easy to understand.
As I said, I was using the Bible to do my own Bible Study so I went to Judges 4-6, which is what we were studying. Within the Bible each page has two columns one white and one golden yellow. Scripture is written on the inner white column while commentary and pictures are on the outer yellow column. On page 360 there was a picture of a man leading two oxen attached to a cart and underneath was a comment regarding Judges 4:1-2:
Another example of what I learned: A few weeks ago I was on Facebook and one of my FBFs called someone a Leviathan. Well I did look it up in my Bible however I was it again in the NIV KIDS VISUAL STUDY BIBLE. Isaiah 27:1 note:
Why is this important? Because this study Bible is designed for children but it is actually informative enough that grown-ups could use it. Yes; there are tables, charts and maps. This is indeed a great Bible.

“How the Lord “sold” his people The Lord “sold them” by allowing a pagan tribe to defeat Israel and make them slaves to Jabin.”I knew that but I didn’t know that! This explanation brought clarity to a verse that I have often read but rarely meditated on.

Leviathan This was a mthological sea monster. Here, it is a symbol of wicked nations such as Egypt.

BELIEVE KID'S EDITION by Randy Frazee General Editor
Think- Act- Be, these are the responses every Christian should have when studying God’s word. BELIEVE KIDS’ EDITION by Randy Frazee is a Bible study for young children using the NIV Bible translation, recommended age 8-12.
My grandson (age 7) has the BELIEVE storybook edition and my granddaughter (age 11) has the BELIEVE student edition I approached this book review thinking about how they would receive the information as it was presented.
Unlike most Bible commentaries and study guides BELIEVE focuses on application of the word. The reader is encouraged to think about what he or she has read, consider how to respond or act to what was read and apply what was learned in his or her life. This book makes a great introduction to faith and Bible study because it matches Old Covenant Scripture with New Covenant Scripture. Upon completion of BELIEVE KID’S EDITION young people will understand why it is important to follow Jesus.
I have reviewed each of the BELIEVE books: Storybook, Kid’s Edition, Student Edition and the adult version, I think I enjoyed the student’s edition the most though I appreciated the value of each. There is something very appropriate about the presentation of the material as well as the order in which it was presented. I am amazed at the amount of information that was presented though the book is less than 1/4 the size of a Bible (Kid’s Edition is 210 pages)
Any of these books including BELIEVE Kids’ Edition would be great to use for Bible Study at home and in your church. I recommend this book.

BELIEVE STUDENT EDITION Randy Frazee
Randy Freeze is the General Editor of a series of books that tell the story of Jesus from Genesis to Revelations using selections from the New International Version of the Bible. BELIEVE STUDENT EDITION is specifically written for young people (this copy is going to my 10 year old granddaughter) to develop a foundational knowledge of Christianity.
There are three sectional concepts: Think- Act- Be which are taught in each of the “Believe” Bible commentary / study guides. Each chapter that falls under the concept introduces a Bible truth which is age appropriate. For example: Chapter 13 “Act” discusses Bible study. In each chapter has: Key Question; Key Idea; Key Verse; Text which includes Bible verses from Old and New Testament; and concludes with What We Believe.
The order in which information is presented makes perfect sense and I am confident that anyone, young or old, reading this book will have a better understanding of what it means to be a Christian. This book can be read independently by either a novice or a person that has read the Bible before. It can also be used in church as part of the Bible Study curriculum.
I have reviewed the adult version of Believe- “BELIEVE LIVING THE STORY OF THE BIBLE TO BECOME LIKE JESUS”; The children’s version: “BELIEVE STORYBOOK” and now this one ‘BELIEVE STUDENT EDITION, I like each. If you are not a fan of the NIV Bible you may not enjoy this book however the advantage of having anyone read BELIEVE STUDENT EDITION is to get him or her interested in reading the Bible.
I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing each of the BELIEVE books. Marsha L Randolph

BELIEVE STORYBOOK by Randy Frazee
When a writer puts a lot of thought into a book it is very apparent from page one, this is the case with BELIEVE STORYBOOK by Randy Frazee with Laurie Lassaro Knowlton and illustrated by Steve Adams.I started reading this book to my eight year old grandson as soon as the book arrived and we were instantly lost in the pages.
BELIEVE STORYBOOK Think, Act, Be Like Jesus is the Bible explained on a level young children can not only understand but learn from. Beginning with the story of creation the stories of the Bible are presented to help children see the Trinity from the Old Testament to the New without neglecting the Trinity.
I like this book because it does explain the reason why we are Christians and does not over simplify Scripture. BELIEVE agrees with what he has been taught at home, what is taught in church and what the Bible says, I did not find any major issues with Bible interpretation. My grandson loved this book and instantly declared “It’s mine!”
I only read a few pages with him but went through the book independently. In terms of Bible study this is an excellent book to use for home and church. Each chapter begins with something to “THINK” about presented in the form of a question. There is an Old Testament story which is linked to a New Testament story by a section on “The Jump to Jesus”. The chapter concludes with “The Jesus Answer” with another age appropriate question and discussion. Finally the reader is asked to “Believe” as a Key Idea and a Key Verse is given.
This book is a definite must buy! I recommend it. Buy it as a gift. Marsha L Randolph

YOUNG WOMEN of FAITH
My granddaughter and I waited patiently for Zondervans’ NIV Bible for young ladies. This review is presented based not only on my opinion but her initial assessment.
Very few things are more important to a 10 year old girl than how things look. As we opened the box and looked at Young Women of Faith Bible, NIV she smiled. I opened the book, to no page in particular, and asked her to read the commentary: “We are family.” She understood it. My granddaughter loves this Bible.
Young Women of Faith Bible, NIVis a New International Version study Bible written specifically for girls and it is very “girlie” and very appropriate for ages 9-12. Unlike “grown up” study Bibles it is not bombarded with details that young ladies may not be interested in. By incorporating short commentaries as an outside column, in pink with a butterfly on top, concepts such as: “Bad Things Happen” within the book of Job help put God’s words in an understandable form. Journaling is another tool utilized to explain a principle, for example: Mark 4:21-23 putting a flashlight under the bed versus putting a lamp under the bed. As with grown-up study Bibles various people are identified, with less detail of course, and each book is given a brief introduction.
Young Women of Faith Bible, NIV contains a mini concordance a weekly study plan and of course maps (in color)
What a great gift for your child or grandchild. What an awesome tool. Because my daughter and I were looking for a new Bible for my granddaughter the publication is very timely. My daughter looked through the Bible and gave her stamp of approval. However, I think the greatest review comes from my granddaughter Akira who says the Bible is: AWESOME!!!!!
I definitely recommend you purchase Young Women of Faith Bible, NIV. I will be suggesting my church purchase copies.
I received a complimentary copy of in exchange for an honest and fair review.
